Are you comfortable in your skin?
Are you comfortable in your own skin? In other words, do you recognize yourself as the treasure God made you to be or are you constantly looking for approval and comparing yourself to a neighbor, co-worker or friend? Do you try to out-dress them or out-perform because you have a need to be noticed? Are you always looking for ways to one-up others?
Friend, it's time to let all of that go. Comparison is a distraction. Comparison is a thief. It steals your time, energy, focus and joy. You aren't here to impress anybody, you don't have to prove anything because you are already God's special workmanship. He created you with a purpose in mind for a purpose you need to discover. You are empowered and equipped to do everything He has called you to do. If you will choose to stay free from a spirit of excessive competition and just run your own race in life, not only will you enjoy your journey more, but you 'll see your gifts and talents come out to the fullest. You'll see His blessing and favor in a greater way and you'll move forward into the life of victory He has in store.
Maybe it is time for you to begin to love yourself and feel the beauty of love and joy within your heart just for you. Life is a process and part of the process is learning how to appreciate you in the present moment. How do you do that, you may ask? Some of the steps that have helped me gain a better sense of who I am are as follows.
1. Start building upon your sense of worth and self-confidence. Talk to yourself and send messages to your sub-conscious mind that say: I am capable and confidence to carry out my tasks. It feels natural and good to be aware of and accept my skillful talents. I am worthy to receive success in my life.
2. Allow your inner being to be in a state of peace and calm. Fear and anxiety builds on itself until you become like a tight rubber band ready to pop. Now is the time to take some deep breathes in and ask the angels to help you live in a state in inner peace and calm trusting that the process of life will not let you do. No one has all the answers invite your team from the other realm to come to your aid.
3. Maintain a healthy state of mind and body. In order to feel comfortable in your skin you need to be in balance that is, mental, physical and emotional balance. Thank your body daily for its flexibility, resilience and ability to function at optimum. Keep on thinking positive thoughts and refuse to wallow in self-pity.
4. Make time forlaughter. There is a time to be serious as you focus on what needs to be accomplished but do not loose site of how laughter can relax and release the stress of your day. Make the time each day to do something to bring a relaxed state into your life.
Thich Nhat Hanh, a Zen master and Buddhist monk said: "To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don't need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself." Say that statement over and over again to yourself until you believe it and accept it as a truth.
